Missions
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28:19-20
Mission Statement:
We seek to be the hands and feet of Christ as a way to answer The Great Commission both locally and globally.
The Missions Committee meets quarterly to elevate the church through a variety of tasks that include choosing mission projects, starting and sustaining partnerships, allocating funds to support missions, involving the congregation, and praying for God’s guidance.
Mission Opportunities:
Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign
Every year from November through Christmas Eve, FMC Wiggins joins with thousands across the country to spread Christmas joy. Volunteers ring the bell beside the red bucket and collect donations that enable the Salvation Army to continue its year-round efforts helping those who would otherwise be forgotten.
Our Daily Bread Food Pantry, Wiggins, MS
Each month, FMC Wiggins supports the local food pantry by collecting food items to be distributed to individuals and families in need. The food pantry is supported entirely by donations from churches, individuals, and businesses helping needy families in our local community.
Nicaragua
For the past several years, FMC Wiggins has sent a mission team from our church to help with the construction of churches in different areas of Nicaragua. The mission team works alongside the local community building relationships and sharing the love of Jesus Christ.
Means of Grace Ministry, Mendenhall, MS
Recently, FMC Wiggins had the blessing to support the Means of Grace shelter ministry in Mendenhall through a used clothing drive. The Means of Grace has a shelter ministry which houses men who are homeless and helps them by allowing them to stay at the shelter while assisting them learn job skills and find a job.
There are many opportunities to serve God and our neighbors through local and global missions. God gives us many gifts to use to help fulfill our calling to go and serve. If you would like more information, please contact the church office.
And, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45
